Chapter 8 â Follow the White Lion
Day Three â Panama
La Central was a shopping mecca and every womanâs dream. Two nonstop miles of stores, shops, craftsmen, and low-cost merchandise. Saxton was having trouble focusing on what they were sent to do, because every man, woman, and child bored in on Odessa. This place was not safe. He had to get them out of here. Saxton made his way through the throng of people to extract his wife from pickpockets and pervs, when a small native Indian woman held up her hand to him. In one wave of her wrinkled arm, she parted the crowd who dissipated as quickly as they had formed. Odessa turn to see the old lady who snatched her arm and forced open her hand. Her eyes were milky with cataracts, her teeth were covered in years of plaque, and she scared Odessa, who looked to Saxton for assistance. The old lady eyed Odessaâs palms, âAh, a black lioness with a heart to match.â
A black lioness. Odessa looked closer at the woman and listened carefully. âThe path you seek, you shall find, if you follow the white lion.â She released Odessaâs hand then turned to Saxton, âYou must learn to trust her instinct while being unafraid to show her who you really are, SeÅor Scorpion.â
The old lady sauntered off, while Odessa held the hand to her chest. The old lady had known that she was a Leo and Saxton was a Scorpio. She went back to Belvaâs words about their destinies, the stars and some other crap. Maybe, what they were here to observe, was not what they were in fact looking for, but something altogether different. Her focus was now on her husband.
âSaxton, what do you think about that?â she asked as she referred to the old fortune teller.
âI think we need to regroup. Too many people know we are here, as if they were told ahead of time. Letâs get out of the city for minute.â They quickly headed off to rent a vehicle to get out of the city. At the Sixt Rental Car Agency, across the street facing away from Calle 50, was when Odessa first noticed the red truck. What caught her attention was the flapping of the canvas covering on the back and something very large, covered in fur and white was moving around inside a cage.
As Saxton prepared to get into the driverâs seat of the two door Chevy, Odessa told him to switch out the car for a truck with 4 x 4 capability. Saxton didnât question, but quickly took care of the transaction. Inside of the Jeep, he inquired about the change. Odessa said, âIn the back of that red Super Duty truck across the street is a white lion.â
The driver of the red truck returned and began to pull out into very slow moving traffic. âWell, now I am curious,â she placed her hand on Saxtonâs muscled thigh, âFollow that truck, Mr. Blakemore.â
âRoger that, Mrs. Blakemore,â not sure what they were going to find, but coincidences are usually visual clues to a bigger mystery.
